Our association

The association ‘Steps of Hope’ exists in accordance with the provisions of the Swiss Civil Code; it is registered in Wil, Canton St Gall, and is entered in the Commercial Register there. It was established on 24th September 2010, and was an offshoot of the association Papageno in Murg, which itself has been active in Romania for over twenty years.

Our association ‘Schritte der Hoffnung’ helps disadvantaged people help themselves, primarily in Romania. We are politically and religiously neutral. The central tenet of our existence is the financing of the children’s home Casa de Copii at Daia, and we have devoted ourselves to this since the association was first set up. We see this support as a long term engagement rather than a short term campaign.

Our hope and our objective is to raise happy and healthy children, to help them to overcome their often difficult pasts and to help them on their way to a better future. The Casa de Copii offers a loving and caring home life for up to thirty disadvantaged children. In this little community the children can grow up in solid social surroundings with the chance of the best possible education and training. With plenty of love and attention, as well as social and physiological support, it should be possible to help the children to develop their own strong and happy individual personalities.

The work of the entire committee is voluntary, and is given with great engagement, but to carry out this responsible work we urgently need your help: a donation or sponsorship for the children’s home means the chance of a future for these wonderful children in Romania.
